We're gearing up for a fabulous event in 2013, and we hope to see everyone again next year. Be sure to tell all your friends!

Are you flying in from another city to attend our convention? If you do not have your own in-town transportation, here are the things you need to know about getting around.

Our official hotel is the St. Louis Airport Hilton, and it has a shuttle service from the St. Louis Airport. However, the Hilton is not providing shuttle service to our convention site, the OBC Educational Building. It is close, but not walking distance. 

If you are in need of transportation from the hotel to the Convention Site and back, please let us know immediately. You can make a comment here or email the assistant chairman at: liason@stlbjdcon.com

Our committee and staff are prepared to provide transportation for anyone who needs it. If you are driving in from out of town, we want to let everyone know that OBC has plenty of parking. We encourage you to go around to the back side of the building to park, for the main entrance is at the back parking lot and will be clearly marked.

A first-year convention always has surprises, and ours is no exception. Fortunately most of our surprises have been pleasant ones so far! We have a new surprise to share with regard to our Convention Doll, Spark. Sarah Seiter has reported some delays with the casting of the dolls. The casting company is going to work hard to get as many dolls ready as they can, but we wanted to let everyone know that it is possible that your doll won't be available in time for the convention. We are working on a solution to this delay which we will announce at the convention. Sarah has offered her sincere apologies, and we're looking forward to hearing the particulars of this story at the convention. I'm sure it will make a great narrative! What we're currently working with is the idea that we may have a Doll-Pick-Up mini-meet up when the rest of the dolls are finished and distribute them then.

As is traditional, here's the Bad News first: Paulette Goodreau has a family emergency and cannot attend our convention this year. Her mother is undergoing surgery and she needs to stay close. We have let her know that we understand, and have invited her to come next year instead. She has promised to do so.

Good News: Paulette feels terrible about backing out at the last minute, and by way of apology she is sending a doll for each convention member! I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I will say that it is a hard-to-find 5" critter! Connie Lowe is going to bring them along and has offered to take over some of Paulette's programming.

What does this mean to our convention? We may have some last-minute changes to our programming schedule, but we are still planning to have the Goodreau Family Reunion, so please be sure to bring any Goodreau dolls you might have as part of your Doll Family for the photo shoot. We will send our best pictures to Paulette to enjoy. We are also going to see if we can use the magic of technology to include Paulette at some point remotely. More on this as it develops.

The Banquet will have it's own separate set of programming, which is why it's isn't listed in the book. As I (Jen) get that complete, I'll add it to the website as well.
