Programming Highlights
Programming is currently subject to changes while we finalize decisions, but here's a few samples of what's in store:
What is 3D printing?
Presenter: Eileen of Silverbeam Dolls
What is 3D printing, how it works and in intro lesson on 3D modeling, and modeling for 3D printing. (I plan on making a 3D modeling and 3D printing class/tutorial set this summer, so this would be the intro class session done live with a Q&A afterwards. Also anyone attending the panel would receive a discount to buy the online class afterwards or the first class free.)
I Got the Doll, Now What?
Presenter: Eileen of Silverbeam Dolls
All of what do I do after I get the 3D print. From stringing them together, to blushing and creating the character and design from a blank doll, to making accessories or clothes mainly for my littling little dolls. At the end of this Stringing and crafting workshop/Demo we will discuss the Design a doll Contest that I am hosting.
Face-ups with Aimee
Aimee of Seed Doll will host a face up workshop and demo. Come learn and play with Aimee.
Evolution of the BJD
Aimee of Seed Doll would like to invite you to a BJD History discussion and trivia game.
Your Couture with Charie Wilson (2 separate 3 hour sessions, first session on Friday before Opening Ceremonies)
From concept to finishing touches. Designing your own pattern for BJD dolls and Resizing patterns to fit different sizes of dolls. Deciding fabrics and trims, what scale works best and how to use different fabrics in costumes to achieve a vintage look and refurbishing fabrics. To sewing your costumes. This is for beginning sewing to professional.
Top it Off – A basic knitted hat for your dolls! (Limited to 10 participants)
Presenter: Suzi Langellier
Cold weather is on the way and every doll needs a stylish hat to keep her head warm, so pick up the knitting needles and let’s get started! This workshop is for beginning knitters – but you must know how to cast on, knit and purl. You will learn new knitting skills: increasing, decreasing, seaming, and beginning color work. You will receive the pattern for a basic rolled brim hat that will fit several doll sizes along with instructions on adding color to your hat and how to make a ribbed band as well as the rolled brim. To finish off the hat, you will be taught how to sew a seam to pull two side edges together.
Corset Creation Workshop (Limited to 18 participants)
Mary West of Daydream Creations will be doing a two hour workshop on making your own embellished corset for your doll at the convention. Pattern pieces will be pre-cut and many trims will be available, and she'll have extra kits available for an additional cost at the workshop. We will even have the sewing machines on site provided by Jackman's Fabrics!
