Exciting news everyone! Aimee of Seed Dolls has Peabody, her 1/4 doll head especially for our convention, ready for orders! If you would like the head faced-up, you will need to order before 11/7 (that's this Thursday) so it will be done in time for the convention. There's more information on her website: http://another2am.com/seed/?p=481 The information is also available on the Convention Doll page. We are also going to be at the 35th annual Doll and Bear show this Sunday from 10-3 - stop by and say hi!
The official contest information is now up on our Contests Page. We have two Types, Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Porter, with 6 size categories to choose from.
You can only have three entries though, so choose wisely! We can't wait to see what you come up with! Click here for more information! We're currently building a permanent home for the convention dolls we're offering! The new page will be in the About drop down menu, or you can click here to see it.
Within the next few days we'll get pictures of previous and current dolls offered as convention dolls. The information for Impling offered by Silverbeam is currently on there if you need the link! The Bad News: Sorry, but we are no longer selling tickets to the Tea Social fundraiser on October 19th at 2pm. We are beginning set up for the event and need our head count in advance.
However, if you really really want to come, you can contact us via email at [email protected] Give us your contact number and we'll get in touch with you to let you know if we can work you in. The Good news: We are still taking registrations for our convention! Last year we closed registration early, but this year we are extending it slightly. If you want to attend the convention, buy your membership immediately, and don't forget to reserve your room in our room bla Silverbeam's Magic has created this impressive BJD as a Convention Edition!
Meet Impling, a sneaky little guy created with double-joints and a tummy joint for maximum mobility! He stands just 17cm tall, which is the largest doll Silverbeam has created. This doll was created with 3D printing technology, which she has graciously offered to demonstrate at our convention. Order yours now through her Facebook or DeviantArt pages: http://silverbeam.deviantart.com/art/Impling-Ball-Jointed-doll-407300758 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Silverbeams-Magic-Original-BJD-3d-printing-and-geekery/136576986383932 If you're not able to attend the convention, you can still order the doll. The convention attendees will receive the first dolls, though. These dolls need time to be created and strung, so please place your order as soon as possible so that you can pick up your Impling at the convention! Basic doll runs $80, but she offers them with blushing, a wig, or an outfit for a small extra fee. We're doing it again!
To raise funds for the convention (and because we like tea!), we're hosting the Monster's Tea Party on Saturday, October 17th. Tickets are $10. For more information, click here! Also, if you happen to be at Archon this weekend, we have a table in the Art Show to show off some of the work done by Dolly Playmate artists, and to promote the convention - Sarah Seiter, the Mushroom Peddlar and one of our Guests of Honor last year, and Jen Patton, one of our committee members, also have art in the Art Show. We'll even have a BJD Fashion show on Friday at 7:30! There are mushrooms in my front yard.
Indeed, a fairy ring appeared suddenly, earlier this week. This is one of he pictures I was able to capture! This is a Fairyland RealPuki "Kaka", holding a tiny mushroom and wearing a trimmed balloon as a hat. I named her "Spool" because I like naming my tinies after sewing notions, and it looks like she's saying "Spoooool!" The tiny mushroom she is holding was carefully plucked from a smaller cluster of mushrooms elsewhere on the lawn. Be sure to check back often; We will be uploading news, stories and photos often as the convention approaches! Wow! That last Tea Party was a real journey to a place of enchantment! Mary Poppins gave us all a spoon full of sugar, Ozma amazed us with stories, Madame Trelawney mesmerized us with her predictions, the Fairy Godmother blessed us with pixie dust, and Alice and the Mad Hatter were entertaining hosts!
The convention is just around the corner, and now is the best time to get registered, before the next price increase. We will be closing registration before the convention, so don't wait until the last minute! Our programming director is working on some really interesting workshops, panels, discussion groups, and lecture/demos. Our guests have been very generous with their time and talents, so be prepared for a schedule chock-full of wonderful programming! We will be able to make some announcements soon about the convention doll, the limited edition convention SD head, and many other great opportunities at our second St. Louis BJD Convention! We had a LOT of fun at our last Tea Party in March (click here for pictures on our Flickr page), so much so we're doing it again!
Saturday, July 27th, at 2pm, we'll be hosting our second STLBJDCon fundraiser! Tickets are a reduced price - now $10 - and the raffle and dollar table will once again be available with some pretty fantastic prizes, with the dollar table going to charity! For more information, and to register for the Tea Party, click here. You'll also find the link under the Registrations tab. Also, have you seen our stlbjdcon info yahoo group? Our Programming Coordinator, Angela, has been putting updates on the site. Click here to check it out - we also post information in there about the convention as it becomes available. Of course our dollyplaymates yahoo group is where a lot of all of this started, and we still post lots of dolly related fun stuff there too! |
